Our Programme of Meetings
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month from 7.15pm till
9.00pm from August to November and February to May.
Currently our
meetings are held in the Croftfoot United Free Church of Scotland
Hall, 349 Carmunnock Road, Glasgow G44 5HH.
Programme for 2019 / 2020
2019
- February 20th - Heather Munro from the Hampden Foot Clinic
Heather will give us a talk on the importance of looking after our feet and the services her clinic can provide.
- March 20th -
Tony Doherty, a diabetes specialist nurse, will talk to us about the dangers of eye problems associated diabetes. - April 17th -
Steven Patterson from Glasgow Caledonian University will tell us about some of the work being done at the university around diabetes. - May 15th - Group Annual General Meeting - followed by discussion and refreshments.
- August 21st - Dr Christopher Smith, a consultant in diabetes, and a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion will give us a talk.
- September 18th - Marie Jarvis will talk to us about how we can have healthy snacks as wel as about health eating in general, .
- October 16th - Linda McGlynn from the Diabetes Scotland office will tell us about the changes happening to the diabetes retinal screening service of GG&C. Linda will also seek our opinions on other aspects of the work of the local health board.C .
- November 20th - Brian Hudson, a researcher at Glasgow University will tell us something of the work he is doing which related to diabetes. The title of his talk is: Learning from healthy fats to find new diabetes medications.
2020
- February 19th - Linda McGlynn, from Diabetes Scotland, will return to tell us about progress of changes being made by the health board to the diabetes retinopathy screening programme. Linda will also as the group to comment on the design of some of the publication being produces to support these canges.
